The fishing port of Cherbourg is included in the public maritime property granted by the French state.
Through history, the fishing port spreads on :
- South of the Bassin du Commerce
- The two thirds East and West of the Bassin du Commerce
- Two marinas near of harbour master's office
- The old yacht club as well as the two marinas in front of this building
- Landing stage called "Bellot" and careening yard
- On the side of the quay de Caligny, there are building and quay of the small auction building
- The fishing port is also managing the wholesale fish merchant area of Collignon, powered in sea water near of Intechmer
All these equipments are built to welcome and favour the fishing activity.
